New England Public Radio featured West Springfield staff members Stephanie Duggan, Sara Almoula, and Colleen Marcus, along with the voices of several grade 2 and 5 students, in their March 8, 2017 broadcast and article, “Plenty Of Strategies – And Little Funding – To Address Refugee Students’ Needs” by Nancy Cohen. Mrs. Duggan can be heard teaching math to her grade 2 ELL students while Sara Almoula talks about her own experience arriving as a refugee to West Springfield High School.
