Strep Throat--Keep a watchful eye on your children's throats, even if they complain that their stomach or head hurts. Students who have seen their Dr. and have been given an antibiotic should take 24hr of the medicine before returning to school. The policy for any illness is that your child should be fever and symptom free for 24hr before returning to school. Symptoms may include a general feeling of illness, stomachache, headache, red throat, but not always a fever. A positive culture is the only absolute way to diagnose streptococcus which requires a trip to the Dr. Encourage children to wash their hands or use sanitizer frequently throughout their day.
