Important COVID-19 Resources for WSPS Community

Post Date:03/24/2020 2:27 PM

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), numerous West Springfield Public Schools and Town departments and staff have been collaborating (with social distancing in mind!) to provide our students and community members with the best possible services, support and guidance during this Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the closure of district schools (through April 6).   Below are some of our COVID-19 efforts:

  • Coronavirus Website - www.wsps.org (this link is found in the top/banner section) for important updates and resources.  Please check this site often as new information is posted regularly!

  • Student Meal Distribution - Grab & Go breakfast and lunch bags are available Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. through April 6 at the following locations: Ashley, Coburn, Fausey, Memorial, Mittineague and Tatham parking lots; Boys and Girls Club (615 Main St.) parking lot; Birch Park Circle parking area; De Ville Apartments (1149 Elm St.) parking lot; and the driveway between Olympia Manor (107 Ashley Ave.) and Ashley Arms (131 Ashley Ave.).  Meals can be picked up at any of the locations - whichever is closest to where the student lives.

  • Community Resources Guide - A comprehensive guide (this link), updated frequently, posted on the Coronavirus website contains valuable information such as resources for food, mental health support, healthcare, refugee and immigration services, parenting support, clothing/shelter, and much more.

  • Translated Resources for Families - Translated resources in several languages from the MA Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as social-emotional/mental health resources, and printable COVID-19 Fact Sheets, are posted on the district’s Coronavirus website.

  • Academic Resources - Many resources and ideas for ways to ‘keep learning alive’ are available on a variety of websites.  Information and links are posted on the Academic Resources page of the district’s Coronavirus website. This page will be updated frequently, so check often!

  • Connect with WSPS - Information/updates from the district and schools are regularly sent to families via School Messenger email, text, and also our mobile app.  Please consider downloading the mobile app by searching West Springfield PS on your device, or scan the app QR code (here).  Updates and links are regularly posted to our social media - follow/like us on Facebook (West Springfield Public Schools) and Twitter (@WestSideSupt).

West Springfield Public Schools will continue to communicate and provide information and updates to staff, students, families, and the community!  This is a team effort, and we are all in this together - be safe and healthy!
