Vice Principal's Corner

Anthony Saccomani

I am very excited to welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year and to begin this journey together! Starting at a new school is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to getting to know our students, staff, and families and becoming a part of the West Springfield Middle School community.

Middle school is an important time in a young person’s development. During these years, students are growing and discovering who they are while navigating new academic expectations, peer relationships, and an increasing sense of independence. These experiences provide meaningful opportunities for growth, learning, leadership, and self-discovery.

I see my role as a source of support for our entire school community. I am committed to working alongside our dedicated and experienced staff, partnering with families and the community, and supporting our students as they navigate these important years. I want every student to feel known, valued, safe, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.

I encourage our students to embrace new opportunities, explore their interests, celebrate their strengths, and persevere when faced with challenges. Our school community is here to listen, encourage, and support every student, every step of the way.

I am extremely excited about all that this school year will bring. I look forward to building relationships, and learning from and collaborating with our staff, students, and families to make this a wonderful school year for all!

Sincerely,

Anthony Saccomani

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome back to a brand new school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and are feeling ready for all that this year has to offer.

Middle school is an exciting time filled with opportunities to learn, grow, discover new interests, and build meaningful relationships. It is a time of tremendous academic, social, and emotional growth. One of my goals this year is to get to know each of you as an individual- your strengths, interests, goals, and the things that make you uniquely you!

I also know that middle school can bring challenges. There may be times when things feel difficult or unfamiliar, but you do not have to navigate those challenges alone. We will work through them together, celebrate successes, learn from mistakes, and continue moving forward. I understand this journey from personal experience because I was once a student at West Springfield Middle School myself. I know what it is like to sit in these classrooms, face new challenges, and wonder what the future might hold.

My hope is that this year will help you become a more confident, collaborative, and capable learner. Together, we will work on developing the academic, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and personal skills you will need to be successful in high school and beyond.

Scholars, I am excited to get to know you, support you, and watch you grow throughout the year. Remember: you are capable of more than you may realize, and every new day is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, challenges, accomplishments, and plenty of reasons to be proud!

With enthusiasm,

Ms. Desiree Spingler
