West Springfield High School serves the 9th through 12th grade for the Town of West Springfield, Massachusetts. The current building was opened in 2014 after the decommission and demolition of the original 1956 high school. Here at WSHS we strive to empower and inspire our students to achieve their fullest potential.

Our Philosophy

WSHS educates all students to be well-rounded, responsible individuals who contribute to our evolving 21st century society. Our philosophy is rooted in providing a well-rounded education that prepares our students for success in all aspects of life. We strive to challenge and inspire our students through innovative teaching methods, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Our dedicated faculty members are passionate about their subjects and go above and beyond to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.

WSHS is not only committed to academic growth. We believe in the power of extracurricular activities and encourage students to participate in a wide range of sports, clubs, and after-school programs. Through these opportunities, students can discover their passions, develop leadership skills, and build lasting friendships. Our competitive sports teams embody the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, while our diverse selection of clubs and activities allows students to explore their interests and expand their horizons.

We are dedicated to empowering our students to become confident, compassionate, and successful individuals who make a positive impact on the world.

GO TERRIERS!

Message from the Principal

Dear West Springfield High School Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year! We are excited to welcome WSHS students back to the building on August 28 for the first day of school. In this mailing, you will find the District Calendar, Lunch Application, Chromebook Insurance Form & Chromebook Acknowledgement Form, Yearbook Order Form and Health Form. Please take the time to read each document, and if you have any questions, contact the Main Office at (413) 263-3400 or the Guidance Office at (413) 263-3478.

Student schedules will be available on the Parent Portal beginning August 13. Schedules will not be mailed home. Please note that schedules may still change before the start of the school year due to ongoing programming and staffing updates. Our counselors are continuing to make adjustments throughout August and will reach out directly if there are any issues.

WSHS will continue to focus on the importance of a positive school culture and community. We will do this through our shared values and expectations outlined in the West Side Way:

  • Showing Compassion

  • Learning Resilience

  • Acting with Integrity

  • Striving for Excellence

We believe these are the foundational elements for all of our students to find success throughout high school and beyond.

We are fortunate at West Springfield High School that every student is issued a Google Chromebook for use at school and home. Chromebook insurance can be paid online, by mail, or in person. This year, students kept possession of their Chromebooks through the summer. Students who do not purchase the insurance or waive the insurance by the deadline will automatically have the insurance waived and therefore be responsible for any loss or damage to their Chromebook.

Communication is a key component of our students’ success. I encourage everyone to regularly check their email, follow us on Instagram (@WSHS_WSPS), and visit our website. The teachers and staff are here to support students and families—please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or for clarification.

I look forward to the start of school and working with you throughout the year.

Sincerely,
Patrick Danby
